Petroleum laws to be amended
October 31, 2019
The Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Act, 2016 (Act 919) and the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) (General) Regulations, 2018 (L.I. 2359), are being reviewed to drive the production of oil in Ghana. The bill which is expected to be laid before Parliament within the month, seeks to strengthen the legal and regulatory framework to ensure the safety, security, sustainability and efficiency of petroleum activities and the optimization of long-term national petroleum resource exploitation and utilisation. It is expected to provide an enabling legal environment to boost production by permitting companies to develop more wells within their operational fields.
